Well this was my own wish list to have normal Tab Bar in Kate.
And finally I wrote a Tab Bar Plugin – Tabify (this is for now mostly will changed it to TabBar Extension in svn later)
This is how it looks
Here is the patch and this is the “Tar” for the folder.
enjoy

Ha, that’s perfect.
This is great, thank you!
To make this perfect you should also implement closing tabs with the central mouse button click and changing tabs with the mouse wheel.
@Massimiliano Thank you, will add this functionality very soon
@Massimiliano please update the code from trunk now user can close tabs using center mouse button and also be able to change the tab using mouse wheel
Man, I’ve been wanting this for so long! How would I install this? Would it require compiling Kate from source?
@zak89 Thanks, Yes you need to compile this plugin with kate source code
.
I’ve always wanted real tabs in Kate.
Thank you very much!!

does it also show the url in the tab’s tooltip..?
@mxttie Thanks, It doesn’t show the URL in tab tool tip will add that in some time
.
@Mxttie now tab tool tip shows the document URL

Cool!
Will work exactly like Dolphin/Konqueror tabs? Like when the bar is full of tabs, that 2 left/right buttons are showed, or that will be easy move tabs in the tab bar?
If yes… Thanks, thanks a lot thezeroth!!!
@Xapi It will work like Dolphine/Konqueror tabs…
Maybe create a review-request (reviewboard.kde.org) to add the plugin to kate (or kate-plugins if that exists)?
@Sabastian its already there in kdesdk/kate/plugins on svn trunk
