Hi Friends,

I am Abhishek Patil from 2008 Batch, currently working at VCreate Logic Pvt. Ltd Bangalore, as a Software Developer and also do open-source contribution to KDE project. VSIT(‘Vidyalankar School of Information Technology’) played a major role in my success.

I decided to join this college for one main reason; the engineering college atmosphere, because of which we enjoyed a truly professional environment which I believe, is pivotal in igniting the aspirations of it’s pupil for any institution.

During my college days I became part of many activities which shaped my technical and managerial skills. I noticed that despite being a Computer Science/ IT course carried out in an engineering college, we didn’t have a CSI chapter for our department. I took the initiative and it was wholely supported by the authorities and especially by the principal Dr.Ajit Naik . That reminds me about Mr.Harshal Shetye, our ex-principal. He was a wonderful man, a wonderful teacher. He always insisted that we should apply our own mind while solving lab exercise and assignment given to us. Which is why, I believe, I’m what I’m now in programming. Also from college I got two more wonderful persons in my life Mr.Ajit Raul (Ex-Professor) and Dr.Anand Tripathi (Electronics Department VIT), both of them help me a lot in taking some very important decisions of my life. All these people are still with me as my Mentor, Teacher and Friend.

Also during my life in the college, I got this wonderful opportunity to be the chief coordinator of the college fest and organizer for event “Maay Marathi” that we had during our 2nd year(2006) and 3rd year(2008). The kind of responsibilities and challenges that the college fest offered, helped me to identify and develop the key managerial skills that one should possess to be successful in a professional world.

During my college days I was involved in various technical competitions, which helped me develop my programming skills. It helped me to explore new areas like embedded systems, and I even took part in the Techfest 2008 Micromouse competition. All of these happened only because of the incredible support we had from the college authorities.

Here I would like to take the example of movie “3 Idiots”, movie gives a wonderful message: College is the place where we learn almost all the aspects of the life… “College life reflects the best years of one’s life” said the wise. For me it was the most knowledgeable phase in my life as well. I enjoyed it to the maximum when I was at VSIT and I must thank the staff & management of the college for making it the most wonderful period of my life.
